NEWS NOW: Four piping hot takes from Arsenal defeat that Man City can ignore

Manchester City news

On Sunday, Mikel Arteta finally defeated his former manager as Arsenal defeated Manchester City 1-0 in the Premier League to snap a 12-game losing streak.

With only 30 games remaining, last year's runners-up moved ahead of the champions thanks to a late goal from Gabriel Martinelli that electrified the Emirates. Arsenal achieved a fantastic victory, and they can now feel confident knowing they can defeat their league opponents.

Naturally, despite some striking numbers, attention was also paid to City's flaws. This is the first time the Blues have suffered back-to-back league losses since 2018, and the four shots on goal were the fewest a Pep Guardiola team has had since Barcelona in 2010.

There wasn't enough of a difference between the teams, though, for City to feel like Arsenal had taught them a lesson, and there hasn't been enough in the past four games to cause significant anxiety at the Etihad Campus. It's never a good thing to lose before the international break, but Guardiola can happily disregard some of the excessive reactions to the game.
