In light of this, the club has been linked to a summer transfer for Joshua Kimmich, a star for Bayern Munich.

As they assess their options should Bernando Silva leave the Etihad this summer, City has reportedly laid the groundwork for a future deal for the adaptable Bayern jewel.
Both Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are keeping tabs on the Portuguese midfielder, but Guardiola has put a £75 million price tag on his head, which might be enough to put them off.
Kimmich, who makes £300k a week for the Bundesliga team, appears to be a contender to take the place of the former AS Monaco star.
Will Manchester City sign Joshua Kimmich?
The German international knows all about the Spaniard's skills because he played for Bayern Munich under him from 2013 to 2016. The former Barcelona manager may also use the 28-year-old to repeat his Ilkay Gundogan masterclass.
When Gundogan moved to Manchester, he was acquired from Borussia Dortmund and quickly integrated into a team that has since dominated England. Over the course of his 304 appearances with City, he contributed to 100 goals (60 goals and 40 assists), earning 12 major awards in the process.
He scored twice in the FA Cup final against Manchester United during the 2022–23 season, which is undoubtedly his best at the club. However, this summer, he left to join Barcelona in search of a new challenge.
In a similar move to Gundogan's, Kimmich might fill the vacuum by leaving German soil for the Premier League's dizzying heights.
Guardiola's greatest asset would be his extreme adaptability, as he can play right back or in the middle of the field. Jose Mourinho previously praised Guardiola for his adaptability, saying: "I see him as a top right-back, left-back, center-back, No. 6, No. 8, No. 10... he has the qualities to be anything!

The 28-year-old also carries a potent offensive threat. Comparing with contemporaries, he placed in the top 1% for progressive passes per 90 (9.87), as well as the top 4% for shot-creating actions (4.35) and assists (0.22) per 90, demonstrating his ability to push forward as frequently as possible and make a significant contribution to the attack.
Kimmich might be a step up from the former Dortmund superstar, according to Gundogan, who managed to place in the top 20% for progressive passes (6.61), assists (0.16), and shot-creating actions (3.36) per 90.
It would make sense to find a job for Kimmich this summer with Silva getting closer to the exit, especially as he seems to be at the height of his powers.
