News now: ‘The noises we’re getting’: News now journalist says Man City star could end up staying at the Etihad

Kyle Walker may still decide to extend his contract with Manchester City despite Bayern Munich's interest, according to News now journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

A deal between the two teams is all that's required to make it happen, according to rumours that have surfaced in recent days. The Englishman is reportedly verbally committed to joining the German team this summer.

In spite of this, one journalist has provided some behind-the-scenes details that should reassure any City supporters expecting to see the 33-year-old remain at the Etihad Stadium.

Walker future still open

Sheth recently addressed the subject involving Walker and his future on an episode of News now' Transfer Talk show.

"News now are reporting that Kyle Walker has essentially told Pep Guardiola 'I want to go to Bayern Munich,' but the noises we're getting are that it hasn't gone that far yet," he remarked.

He might yet stay and sign a new contract with Manchester City, so it's still possible. Therefore, it appears that Kyle Walker still has a lot of options, but if he were to go, another high-profile signing would be leaving.

The full-back played 39 times for the Blues in all competitions last season, demonstrating how crucial he can be for the squad in crucial situations, particularly in their Champions League semi-final matches against Real Madrid where he handled Vinicius Junior with ease.

Walker and Guardiola recently spoke about his future during a news conference, but Guardiola didn't go into detail about what the defender said or what Walker's likely next move is.

This demonstrates how highly they value him and would prefer to keep him there rather than have him join a team like Bayern, who will undoubtedly try to prevent City from winning the Champions League again next season. Reports claim the Citizens were willing to offer the full-back a new contract to keep him at the club.

Moving forward, we believe that this should be the club's main priority behind the scenes if what Sheth mentioned in this podcast is accurate and there is still a potential that the England international will reject a move to Bayern and prolong or even extend his stay with the treble winners.
