Chelsea Submit Opening Offer for Michael Olise but Face Stiff Competition

Fabrice Hawkins reports that Chelsea has made a £39 million offer for winger Michael Olise and that the player "agrees to go to Chelsea" in principle. Chelsea is still making moves during the summer transfer window.

This summer, the Blues have already finalized the prearranged transfer of Christopher Nkunku, as well as deals for Nicolas Jackson of Villareal and Angelo of Brazil.

How Olise Might Fit Into Chelsea's Team Under Mauricio Pochettino

Even though the start of the Premier League season is less than three weeks away, Chelsea still has work to do this summer. Mauricio Pochettino and his team have a mouthwatering home opener against Liverpool on the schedule.

Wesley Fofana's recent injury will make it necessary to reevaluate the defensive choices available, and Chelsea is still in need of a center midfielder, hence their pursuit of Moises Caicedo. However, given that only Raheem Sterling has much experience playing at this level, their offense might be another source of concern.

Nkunku is an intriguing addition, and it will be interesting to see how he fits in with the other two front-three players at Stamford Bridge—recognized center forwards Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja. The only choices in the wide areas are Sterling, Mykhalo Mudryk, and Noni Madueke, and the lack of depth there may be the reason the Blues are interested in Olise.

Chelsea Has Opponents

Hawkins claims that Chelsea has made its opening offer for Olise. The France U21 international scored twice and provided eleven assists for the Eagles last season, winning five match-of-the-week honors and catching the eye of some of the top teams in the league.

According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea's offer, which also gives credit to interest from Manchester City, exceeds the £35 million release clause at £39 million. As Pep Guardiola looks for a successor for Riyad Mahrez, a bid from the Citizens cannot be ruled out.
